The Right Honourable, Karen Casey, Minister of Education for Nova Scotia visited Bedford Academy to open this year's Festival of Shakespearean Plays. Several of Shakespeare's Classics were interpreted by the children and performed for an approving audience. Minister Casey was provided with a tour of the facility and an opportunity to make some opening remarks. She was presented with flowers and an official Academy "roller bag." Students in the roles of Romeo and Juliet acted as honour guards during the opening ceremony.
