Mini Girls Make Gold Medal History

Congratulations to our Bronco Mini Girls Basketball Team with a Gold Medal performance in their dramatic win over their archrivals, the Sackville Storm. This historic win represented the first Gold Medal for Bedford Academy in the Mini Girls Division of the Metro Basketball Association. The capacity crowd were brought to their feet several times as the two teams gave their all on the hardwood court.

Bronco Coach, Jonathan Bell energized his team to new heights as they sought their first Championship Banner. Veteran Jessie Pappin's clutch performance in the closing minutes and ability to find the hoop throughout this hotly contested game was crucial to the team securing the win. Kaleigh Penny's trademark slashing drives to the hoop ignited the team find the will to win. First year player, Laura "Hollywood" MacLean amazed the crowd with her deft moves around the basket. Erin Ring demonstrated her ability to maintain control of the ball under great pressure. Katie Kells dominated the boards on both ends of the floor while Jessica MacKeen and Emily Taweel blanketed the opposition with their tenacious defense. Alisha Kapur's big hoop from downtown was a momentum turning point in the game. Brynn Knickle and Paige Smithers played their hearts out off the bench.

This well deserved win has come to symbolize Coach Bell's coaching philosophy of Team First. The students of Bedford Academy join together in extending our Bronco Girls a hearty well done and will be there in force to cheer them onto victory in the upcoming Provincial Playoffs slated for April 4th to 6th.
