Bedford Academy NEWS Junior Mini Girls Bring Home the Gold from the Bedford Classic With the spirited sound of tambourines in the background and a standing room only crowd on its feet, Bedford Academy's Junior Mini Girls won the Bedford Classic gold medal with an exciting come from behind win. This year's victory came at the expense of the Bronco Girl's cross-town rivals, the Bedford Eagles. Co Captain, Mikayla Campbell carried the team on her shoulders in the final seconds of regulation play. Her drives to the hoop with a soft touch off the board propelled her team into the lead with her timely baskets. Second year point guard Morgan Mudge, found openings in the Eagle's defense to penetrate through to the basket with her famed crossover dribble. Fellow Co Captain, Olivia Pappin displayed poise well beyond her years to take full control of the tempo of the game. Meaghan Penny inspired her teammates with her ball hawking and unnerving ability to strip the ball away from her opponent. Hailey Robinson defined the term hustle with her tenacious defense in shutting down the opposition's leading scorer. April Weickert, aggressively crashed the boards on both ends to preserve the win for the Academy. Vanessa Foster displayed a court sense that fueled the Bronco offence into many scoring opportunities. Victoria Erickson was poetry in motion with an athletic grace from baseline to baseline. Mira Rayson was not to be denied her chance at a gold medal with her heads up play. Charlotte Hache stymied the Eagles attempt at a comeback with the heated intensity of her defense. Coaches Adams and Wyllie added to their already impressive stream of Tournament Championships with this win. Due to their leadership and encouragement yet another Gold Medal banner will be hoisted to the rafters of Academy Hall.
