Bedford Academy Anglers
April 30 2009

Grade Four students participated in the Provincial Department of Natural Resources "Learn to Fish" Program under the guidance of two instructors. Following a classroom session which introduced the children to various fish species found in the fresh waterways of Nova Scotia the children shared their thoughts on local conservation efforts. Paper Mill Lake which borders the Academy property was stocked with over 1, 2000 speckled and brown trout courtesy of the Department's Fish Hatchery in Caledonia. After baiting their hooks and casting, several of the students were successful in landing several one and two pound trout. The fish were soon released for future fishermen but prized catches were carefully stored in zip loc bags for transport home and that night's supper.
