Bedford Academy provides an extensive After School Program for elementary school aged children. The program focus is totally child-centered. The foundation being the provision of a safe, stimulating environment designed to meet the needs of each child.

The staff has a solid background of experience and training in the delivery of a wide range of activities for children of all ages. Qualified personnel in first aid are present at all times and many of the counselors are Academy teachers.

Select staff are bilingual and interact with the children in French. The front desk check-in system is in place to address security and child drop off or pick up arrangements.

With the newly constructed Academy Hall gymnasium the children are able to participate in a wide range of physical activities and cooperative games each afternoon. The emphasis is on providing the children with structured play through group games and individual sports.

A wide range of activities is available Monday through Friday including field trips, ice skating, cooperative games, outdoor playground time and a variety of arts and crafts activities. The Academy computer lab is available for the children to engage in a number of technological experiences while under direct adult supervision.

The atmosphere is one of supervised fun. The pace is open for the children to select from the activities provided each day. Communication between the home and the Director is always encouraged as we are constantly striving to enhance and build upon the program.

Bedford Academy's After School Program provides care for pupils who currently attend the school and welcomes children from other areas of Metro. The hours of operation are 2:00 to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday.
